Easter Sunday Church Fire

By: Ashley Rubin

NEW YORK – A beloved church is taken out of sight by a massive fire, making it hard to be recognized. Both fire and water are our main resources, and if we are in a dire situation, it is frightening to know how dangerous they can become. As safe places of the world, getting caught on fire seems to make headlines  frequently and the lives of innocents are tragically taken away because of this. Inspectors should double check premises beforehand to insure a person's life will be safe.

On Easter Sunday, a Brooklyn church is filled with smoke in its building as parishioners are left running for their lives.

“This is tremendous. This is my church. My church is my second house to me. This is too much, too much for me, My church is a second house to me,” church employee Salvador Gonzales said to CBS News.

The Easter holiday is a time where families and relatives come together for the Resurrection of Jesus at their church. Also, children enjoy the holiday for Easter egg hunting and the nice attires. However, it's the jolly ending to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence. It should be a time where you have a smile on your face, preach the lord and do not have a cold shoulder.

A fire that injured six people in the lord's house is sad to have occurred. For some, as mentioned, the church is like their second home and to see that get torn down by a massive fire left neighbors low-spirited. We need our youths and others to not be afraid of going into church.

Massive fires are something that isn't in our control. To keep citizens safe and well rounded, inspections and making sure that landmarks, buildings, etc are being well looked at is essential. Most importantly, to keep them from happening again, especially a place that others relate to as home.
